This week in class I had an amazing time playing games with my classmates. We started off the week playing all our sports games that we created and a lot of them were very well made. My first mention would be the volleyball game. The volleyball board game rendition was very fun and it had great game elements that included strategy and a little bit of luck. The next game that I really enjoyed was the board game version of curling. You have a little bead and you try and throw it closest to the middle as you can but everybody is throwing theirs at the same time so you must try and not get hit. My game of board game tag went very well and we ended up making it very balanced and enjoyable for everyone. In our game of tag, I believe we really implemented good team agreements from Macklin and Sharp. “Team agreements spell out how the team is going to interact” (Chapter 8). Teamwork became an essential when the hiders had to run from the seeker.

The next half of class we began focusing on card games. We played Sushi go which is a very fun card game centered around using certain combinations to score more points than anyone else. Sushi go does a great job at arranging cards and making it simple. “Since cards are planar and uniform, they can be grouped into sets, counted, ranked and ordered” (The Playing Card Platform).  However, Sushi go really altered how card games work by changing hands with everyone at the end of every round. “Playing cards planar surfaces simultaneously excel at both displaying and concealing information” (The Playing card Platform). Sushi go seriously challenged this idea by almost letting everyone know exactly what cards you were going to have then you had to strategize based off of that.
